Well if you haven't heard yet (which I doubt) on February 5th, Dario and I got engaged! It all happened on a cold (and I do mean COLD) night. I left work, glancing at my weather.com web window and frowning at the 5 degrees it said for Philadelphia. Dario told me he wanted to go for a walk. He'd had a bad week and a walk in the park would cure it. So I tossed on my coat, frowned once more at the computer screen and sighed. How could I cancel our "walk" when he was having a bad week. Now, mind you...Dario RARELY if EVER has a bad week. In fact I remember 1 day, ONE!, that was not a good day for him. So..I headed out to find my cutie waiting anxiously at the door of my office building. We began the walk to "our park" located in Old City, directly behind the National Constitution Center. He was quiet. I tried to talk though my lips and cheeks were frozen and I was wondering (in my head) how long I would last in that freezing air. We got to the park and I looked down. "Dumb shoes..." I began singing as Dario and I love to make life into a musical whenever we can. My mouth still frozen I knelt down and began tying. My contacts at this point were frozen, so with vision blurred I looked up to see Dario kneeling by me. Immediately I thought he was trying to help me when I realized he was holding something. I squinted and blinked, trying to get my contacts moist enough to see and understand what was happening. He started with "I have a question to ask you..." and realizing what was happening, I had what I would only describe as an "Elaine-from-Seinfeld" reaction. "Stop it!" I jokingly said. And then his response was "No. I'm serious. Will you marry me?" And then (according to him) I just stood there and knodded. Speechless. His response: "I just need a yes or no." Through the tears I choked out a soft "yes" and he stood up and said "Do you want to try it on?" I nodded and then said "I think my tears are going to freeze to my face!" A hug followed and calls to our parents along with dinner at my favorite restaurant, Beau Monde. The name meaning "beautiful world" in French. .... I think very appropriate!
